Description and Table of Contents

Description

The 31 papers included in this volume review the current developments in technical aspects related to scientific ballooning. Among the highlights presented here are papers concerning the remarkable improvements in balloon materials, new techniques for material and stress analysis and balloon engineering. Novel instrument design, mainly in the field of X-ray astronomy, and long duration flights over Antarctica are also featured. Additionally, the ballooning activities of individual nations are described which forms an interesting section of the volume.
