Kindreds of the Earth focuses on the Badagas, a community which lives in the Nilgiri Hills in Southern India. This unique longitudinal study covers 27 years of measurement and socio-cultural change in four sample villages. Paul Hockings also studies kinship, marriage, household structure and various aspects of Badaga contemporary life including the influence of the mass media, schooling, economy and migration.
