内容説明

This text is based on the analysis of in-depth interviews with social workers across a number of sites in two local authorities in the North of England. It explores the various factors that influence their child protection practice with a specific client group (familialy sexually abused adolescent girls). The text concludes that beyond those issues of safety and psychological trauma that need routinely to be confronted in child protection of sexually abused children, there are specific issues of "nearly adult" status to be confronted in this group. The book recommends changes in in-service training and inter-agency joint training in respect of those issues specific to adolescents and recommends the establishment of specialist adolescent sexual abuse units within social services. The book is primarily aimed at academic researchers in child/adolescent sexual abuse and social work. It aims to be of interest to both students and researchers in social work, social policy, women's studies, sociology and social anthropology.
