Description and Table of Contents

Description

This text offers a diverse set of perspectives representing key directions of research and practice in the field of environmental design research. Researchers present their work in various areas of person-environment research such as privacy, children's environment, post-occupancy evaluation, environmental cognition, environmental aesthetics, crime prevention, housing, environmental protection and environmental design. The collection provides a sample of studies that educators can use either to supplement or replace a textbook on environment psychology, and for researchers, it provides a selection of modern reviews and examples of research. Information is also presented on substantive and procedural issues for programming, evaluating and managing environments for human use. By way of example, the book argues for the value of a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, beyond that the collection outlines many important directions for methods, research and practice.
