Description
This book preserves for posterity the selected journalistic writings of I. H. Burney. This contemporary insight into early Pakistani politics is useful to anyone wishing to understand what went wrong in that crucial phase of Pakistan's statehood, leading first to the break-up of the Eastern wing and later to the imposition of Martial Law under Ziaul Haq. It is of considerable value as commentary unembellished by the benefit of hindsight. It is useful to remember that during those dark days of authoritarian rule the Outlook was one of the very few national newspapers that dared to be systematically critical of the conduct of domestic and foreign affairs-and history has vindicated its principled approach.
