Description
Updated for the third edition, this reference provides information on the diagnosis and treatment, both medical and surgical, of all oesophageal disorders. Complementing the text are illustrations that demonstrate fibre optic technology, video endoscopic images, and histologic staining. The third edition's chapters on gastroesophageal reflux disease have been completely revised to reflect improvements in medical and surgical therapy. This edition also includes new information on the complications of reflux, Barrett's oesophagus, and the treatment of infective oesophagitis in the immunocompromised host. The surgical chapters have been refocused to provide more detailed guidelines on indications for surgery and comparisons between surgical and medical treatment.
