Description
Drawing on extensive oral recordings of devotional songs, the book contextualises the figure of the sixteenth century Rajput princess Mirabai, who became a devotee of Krishna, within the lived reality of the lives of poorer women and men in Rajasthan and Gujarat. It analyses in detail the communities which have formed around the figure of Mirabai.
