Description
Volume 1 covers: the voyage of Nearchus from the Indus to the Euphrates (around the year 325 B.C.). It is collected from the original jounal preserved by Arrian, and illustrated by authorities ancient and modrern. It contains an account of the first navigation attempted by Europeans in the Indian Ocean. Volume 2 covers: the periplus of the Erythrean Sea. It contains an account of the navigation of the ancients from the sea of Seuz to the coast of Zanguebar.
