Description
The Irish Constitution of 1937 is currently under review, and in July 1996 the "Whitaker Committee" report was released to the Irish Parliament. Publication of this book is, therefore, a very timely contribution to the debate on the Constitution as it stands and possible future amendments. Detailed discussion of the key provisions is enhanced by discussion of aspects of the Irish Constitution which are unique and distinctive. The book also provides consideration of leading cases, decided by Irish courts, interpreting and construing the Constitution. * First in-depth analysis of the Irish Constitution by a foreign legal academic * Detailed assessment of the 1996 "Whitaker Committee" report on the Irish Constitution * Suggested blueprint for modernising the Irish Constitution
