A collection of writing by the John Berger, a well known art critic and historian which include major statements on painting and the philosophy of art (eg "The Moment of Cubism"), as well as essays on travel, love, story-telling, poetry, politics and writers. The papers have been gathered from a variety of sources and include some previously unpublished pieces (eg "The White Bird"). John Berger is an influential art critic and cultural historian, well-known for his TV series and book "Ways of Seeing". He won the 1972 Booker Prize for his novel "G". He has also written "Pig Earth", a collection of short stories, poems and sketches about life in a French peasant community.
