Description and Table of Contents

Description

This work delineates the vital importance of folate for the maintenance of normal metabolism and the prevention of disease. It presents information on the physiological and biochemical processes involved in folate utilization and focuses on the connection between adequate folate intake and the decreased risk of both neural tube defects and chronic disease conditions such as cancer and coronary heart disease. The work should be of interest to nutritionists, dieticians, biochemists, molecular biologists, physiologists, oncologists, cardiologists and primary care physicians; and upper-level undergraduate, graduate and medical school students in these disciplines.
