This guide covers the provisions to be made by the operating organization prior to and during the commissioning and operating phases of a nuclear power plant in order to keep the radiological impact on the environment and the radiation exposure of the general public as low as is reasonably achievable. It discusses the main sources of radioactive wastes and the means available for their minimization, the classification and segregation of these wastes and the waste monitoring programmes on-site.
