This guide deals with the dispersion of normal and accidental releases of radioactive material from nuclear power plants into surface water for a full range of releases, including steady state (routine releases), instantaneous or puff (accidental releases), and time dependent long term releases (routine or accidental releases). It describes the information needed, gives recommendations on measurement programmes and the selection and use of appropriate mathematical models for evaluating dispersion.
