Adequate freshwater supply is the most important precondition for sustaining human life and for achieving sustainable development. Recognizing the importance of freshwater, the UNEP International Environmental Technology Centre (UNEP-IETC) organized and International Symposium. The Symposium was aimed at enhancing the capacity of urban managers and decision-makers in water resource management. This publication contains session summaries, technical papers presented and information materials produced for the symposium. It will be a valuable source of information for all who are involved or interested in water policy development and promoting sustainable water use.
