Description and Table of Contents
Description
This is an information source on current work in the field of breast sonography. An international and interdisciplinary approach is used throughout and the book describes the present use and evaluates the future prospects of sonographic methods in the understanding and management of breast disease. Among the techniques appraised are high-resolution sonography, Doppler and magnetic resonance imaging, X-ray- and sono-mammography, computer-assisted analysis and ultrasound-guided aspiration. These offer valuable aid in the more precise localization and diagnosis of breast tumours, benign and malignant, as well as in preventative screening and assessing the recurrence of carcinomas. Various interventional procedures are discussed, as is recent research into intraductal pathological processes. Underlining the broad scope of the volume, a number of articles consider the subject from the viewpoint of the epidemiologist, the medical statistician and the histologist.
