Environmental chemistry is taught increasingly at undergraduate level in a number of degree disciplines. This book covers topics that deal with the chemistry of the atmosphere (air), the hydrosphere (water), and the terrestrial environment (soil). These natural systems, viewed in a global perspective, are studies in relation to the developing human population whose wasted, by-products and life-styles affect many natural chemical processes within these systems. The book emphasizes the chemical principles - both descriptive and quantitative - which apply to environmental studies, and includes a broad range of examples and problem exercises.
