内容説明
This yearbook focuses on the social security systems of tomorrow. The 20th century has witnessed the birth of the welfare state but changes in the structure of our society have led some people to question how well it will survive in the new millennium. These structural changes include: the demographic trend towards increased life expectancy which is combined with decreased fertility; the battle between the individualism of the free market and the traditional solidarity structures of the welfare state; and the pressures that will be placed upon the children of tomorrow to integrate into a changing labour market. The papers in this yearbook address these problems on an individual, national and supra-national level. The contributors also advance solutions to these potential problems, solutions that aim to improve efficiency, stimulate economic growth, distribute income fairly, reduce poverty and prevent social exclusion.
