内容説明
"Mosbys Handbook of Diseases, second edition" provides an up-to-date profile of 231 adult and pediatric diseases and conditions. A user-friendly organization lists all diseases in alphabetical order from Abruptio Placentae to Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. In addition, diseases and conditions are organized in a consistent format so the reader can immediately find essential information. Thirty-nine new topics have been prepared for this edition, including Abuse and Neglect: Child, Abuse and Neglect: Elder, Abuse: Domestic, Anxiety Disorders, Croup, Depression, Ebola Virus, Heat Exhaustion, Heat Stroke, Latex Allergy, Ovarian Cyst (benign), Polyps, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Suicide, Substance Abuse, and Tonsillitis. The organization of material is particularly user-friendly.
Each entry includes the following: a definition of the disease or condition; a description of its etiology and incidence; the underlying pathophysiology; common clinical manifestations; complications associated with the disease or condition; frequently ordered diagnostic tests; treatments, including indications for surgery, common medications, and general therapeutic interventions such as nutrition, comfort measures, safety issues, and long-term management and family and patient education. Risk factors have been added to this edition, where appropriate. The easy-to-read content uses short phrases and sentences making the terminology appropriate for all potential markets. Nursing jargon and abbreviations are not used. The books design is also helpful to the reader. Topics are heavily cross-referenced. A disease or condition is listed by its scientific name as well as its more common name, that is, Rubella and Measles. Colored tabs with the letters of the alphabet will be placed on the outer edges of the pages. The index features full bleeds for quick access to information.
