Description and Table of Contents

Description

This is a presentation of South East Asian economic perspectives, which are at variance with orthodox Western thinking. Topics covered range from macro perspectives of Indonesia's "Ekonomi Pancasila" and Thailand's Buddhist economics, through Malaysia's Islamic financial institutions, to regional and international perspectives of the remaining ASEAN countries and the IMF/World Bank. All the topics are linked together by a discussion which sets them within a diachronic, historical framework; in doing so, the book aims to open up challenging and provocative fields of research which are essential for a real understanding of South East Asia and its current economic situation.
