Description
This volume asserts that multimedia plays an increasingly important role in training and development for high-technology medical techniques. It examines a broad range of methods for incorporating computer-based multimedia packages into the world of medicine. Collected together as a result of the "Multimedia '93" conference on "Multimedia in Medicine", coverage includes a paper on the award-winning project "Understanding Cervical Cancer and the National Screening Programme", and application of the THESEUS hypermedia model. The papers explore a range of topics and issues from the use of multimedia tools for cancer-pain education to distributed virtual environments for custom prosthesis design and prototyping, and from integrating libraries into the curriculum to combining textbook and literature abstracts on CD.
