Providing a guide to the hardware and software tools used to determine LAN performance, Gilbert Held presents several techniques used to enhance the performance of local area networks and demonstrates how to estimate LAN traffic. A discussion of how to determine the availability levels of different network configurations will assist network managers in assessing whether potential gains in availability are worth the costs associated with purchasing additional equipment.
