Description

Admitting that it is an unlikely comparison on the surface, Campbell (religious studies, Holy Names College, Oakland, California) describes how both thinkers address features of the crisis of western modernity. She finds that Habermas' search for a means to bring questions of human authenticity and emancipation into rational political discourse, and Gutierrez's new kind of critical discourse about Christian faith, taken together, provide foundations for a theology of communicative and liberating praxis.
