This volume is a practical guide to interpreting both common and uncommon electrocardiograms. The book presents more than 300 clinically relevant electrocardiograms from the intensive care and coronary care units of a large university hospital, as well as from private practice and from specialty cardiac clinics. The accompanying text emphasizes clinical correlations and differential diagnosis and, in most cases, includes correlation with the patient's medical history. The book is organized into 12 chapters that include congenital heart disease, metabolic and toxic drug effects, supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, right and left ventricular hypertrophy, bundle branch block, atrioventricular block, coronary artery disease, and pericarditis. Coverage includes records made before and after cardiac transplantation, as well as common electronic pacemaker rhythms. Also included is a section on artifacts that can interfere with ECG interpretation
