Description
This practical guide presents basic techniques, methods, and strategies that have wide-ranging applicability in couples therapy. The book discusses the implementation of techniques in more rigorous detail than other texts and emphasizes the couple's growth, as well as problem resolution. At the core of the book is the model set forth in Dr. Weeks' 1989 volume, "Treating Couples: The Intersystem Model of the Marriage Council of Philadelphia". This comprehensive, integrative, and contextual model considers three subsystems: the individual, the interactional, and the intergenerational. Using the intersystem model as a framework, the authors describe treatment of couples from multiple perspectives with a variety of techniques.
