内容説明

The Black Sea occupies a unique ecological position. Major pollutants loads flow in from numerous rivers, including some of the world's greatest, but there is only limited interaction via the Bosporus with the global seawater system. Thus the Black Sea experiences the problems of marine and coastal pollution in extreme form. The solution to these problems must be sought in a perspective that covers the entire catchment of the Sea. This was the approach of the Second International Black Sea Conference, which reviewed the water supply and wastewater collection and treatment technologies, as well as other management tools, needed to solve the problems in the region. From the papers and posters presented 28 have been selected for these proceedings, arranged according to the following topics: Environmental Monitoring and Identification of Pollution Sources; Modelling of the Processes of Pollution Diffusion in Sea Waters; Wastewater Treatment Technologies in Coastal Areas; Water Supply and Sewerage in Coastal Areas - Technological, Sanitary, Hygienic and Disinfection Aspects; Black Sea Basin Management. These proceedings condense the latest information concerning the environmental problems and water quality management of the Black Sea coastal area and catchment basin. They will be an essential reference for researchers, practitioners and managers active in the region, and a highly valuable source of information for scientists, engineers, managers and policy-makers confronted with similar issues around the world.
