Flexible and functional, the Communication Supports Checklist (CSC) provides explicit guidelines for meeting the communication needs of people with mental retardation, autism, and other disorders. This practical tool includes two sets of photocopiable blank forms: the Checklist, an assessment inventory for identifying a program's strengths and weaknesses, and the Action Plan, a guide to making programmatic changes and increasing the effectiveness of services. Full sets of sample forms completed by actual users of the CSC in school and residential environments illustrate the CSC in action. Using this tool is a great way to ensure that programs are providing quality, person-centered communication supports in today's managed care environment.
