A legal aid handbook for women that cuts through the maze of legalese and judicial procedure in order to provide legal information and advice on using the law and its provisions to claim your rights. This handbook on the subject of domestic violence has been researched by a group of lawyers familiar with case law, legal procedure and experience of actual cases. It contains: a discussion of the issue and advice on when to seek legal redress; clear explanations of the meanings of each of the provisions in the laws and of legal procedure; suggestions of steps to be taken by individuals and/or groups in order to use the laws; cases that have been unsuccessful and why; pitfalls to avoid, and civil and criminal remedies.
