Description

Geotechnical Measurements: Lab and Field provides insight into the state of the practice in geotechnical measurements. Geotechnical measurements include observations of the physical state of subsurface materials and how that state responds to changes in the physical environment. Both laboratory and in site measurements are essential to geotechnical practice and have provided the lifeblood for advances in modern geotechnical engineering. This proceeding is conveniently divided into two sections. The first focuses on laboratory measurements and their use to further understand and characterize geotechnical behavior. The second section focuses on the application of methods to measure actual performance of the geotechnical elements of constructed facilities.
