内容説明

The writing career of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) began and ended with his contributions to periodicals. Between 1843, when he wrote a story for his grammar school magazine, and his death in 1898, he published over 300 items in magazines, journals and newspapers. These writings are now fully listed, described, annotated and indexed. This work includes bibliographical details and additionally describes Dodgson's letters, articles, games, mathematical problems and stories. Previoulsy little known Dodgson items are brought to light, and numerous early reprints are recorded for the first time. Livett's introductory essay discusses Dodgson's career both as a reader of periodicals and a contributor to them, and quotes extensively from some of the "lost" periodicals whihc have not been reprinted since their original appearance.
