Description and Table of Contents
Description
Using case presentations and insightful analyses, this book illustrates practical points in the management of epilepsy. It provides a readable, up-to-date, and well-balanced yet succinct account of the most important issues in epileptology. It covers diagnosis, classification, neuroimaging, neurophysiology, clinical management, and more. The book contains a chapter that explores non-epileptic attacks of psychological origin and briefly addresses a number of `organic' causes of non-epileptic attacks. Although the overall emphasis is clinical, the book also delves into underlying basic mechanisms, including pathophysiology, and pediatric epilepsy syndromes. It highlights the management of first seizures and the withdrawal of antiepileptic drugs.
