Summary: Examines the geography of the Pacific as well as the major geo-political and ecological problems facing Pacific countries
内容説明・目次
内容説明
Pacific People and Place examines major geo-political issues and the natural problems facing the Pacific countries, including the greenhouse effect, economic development, aid and tourism, as well as outlining the physical geography of the region. It covers the background, the present situation and the future impact of each of these issues. Each chapter illustrates the delicate balance between the Pacific islands, nature and developed nations. The approach of this text follows that of the first two in the Pacific in the Twentieth Century series and is enquiry based. It encourages students to draw hypotheses and test them through the use of questions and activities. The authors have extensive experience of the Pacific countries. This authoritative work will encourage students to further investigate the region.
