内容説明
Architects have borrowed investigative techniques from the sciences such as folding, chaos theory, self-organized systems, bottom-up methodologies and emergence. These have all contributed not only to the process of design but to the conceptualization of the process of building in cities, themselves continously subject to change and adaptation. This issue of "Architectural Design" concentrates on digital processes and these conceptual strategies as presented by experimental architects using digital media. One of the main aims is to render these processes explicit, where previously they have only been discussed implicitly. (Discussions have tended to be veiled in philosophical theory rather than outrightly discussed.) The issue thus seeks to ask far more reaching questions than formerly aired: what are the methods in which these processes are explored, and how might their potentials influence architects' work?
