Description and Table of Contents
Description
This volume aims to reflect the dual concerns of identifying the molecular and genetic causes and mechanisms of aging (gerontology), and maintaining and improving health in the elderly and treatment of their diseases (geriatrics). The first chapters deal with cellular, endocrine, cardiovascular, and neural aging, while the last chapters examine medical and psychiatric interventions. Indeed, the two approaches are shown not only to be complementary, but they may provide an integrated understanding of the aging process.
