This text examines the decentralization policies and processes which have informed the development of "small-scale" television in each member state of the European Union. It discusses the significance of growing regional television in a rapidly changing Union which has more than 300 television stations broadcasting. The book presents 14 national reports together with an account of television in the Union and provides data on the seemingly contradictory processes of media globalization and decentralization. The book also offers an optimistic approach to the future of television in the regions and cities in the new era of digital and multi-channel broadcasting.
