Pocket Guide to Fetal Monitoring and Assessment provides portable and practical information for evaluating intrapartum and antepartum fetal status. Designed specifically for use in the clinical environment, this pocket guide provides a single source of information for the care and management of the patient in the labor and delivery suite, the fetal intensive care unit, the LDR/P (labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum), and the antepartum inpatient unit or ambulatory care setting where electronic monitoring is employed for fetal surveillance. This guide also provides up-to-date content on all aspects of electronic fetal monitoring, from operating equipment to interpreting data. As in prior editions, this guide is pocket-sized, two-color and features an outline, tabular format for easy retrieval of information. Care is presented in a step-by-step sequence with rationales for nursing interventions. Contains and applies the new NICHD (National Institute for Child & Human Development) standard definitions for fetal heart rate patterns.
Also new are guidelines for culturally sensitive care of the patient in labor, information on a new fetal oxygen saturation monitor, and information for other countries who use a different fetal monitor strip scaling system, and an increase number of fetal monitor strips for study and analysis.
