Description
John Fuller is a central figure on British in British letters, and one of the most prolific and brilliant poets of his generation. A fellow of Magdalen College since 1966, he has encouraged and influenced two generations of poets, including James Fenton, Mick Imlah, Robert Saxton and Mark Wormald. As astonishingly versatile writer, he has produced children's books, literary criticism, and novels, including FLYING TO NOWHERE, which won the Whitbread and was shortlisted for the Booker in 1983, as well as 13 volumes of poetry, all of which have been highly praised. John Fuller's COLLECTED POEMS, published to coincide with his 60th birthday on 1st January 1997, gathers together the majority of his published poems, from 13 collections spanning from 1954 to the present. Arranged chronolgically, it shows the development of his poetic imagination, and displays his hallmarks of playfulness, wit and virtuosity, alongside an increasingly powerful emotional depth.
