Description

Nowadays, newly developed software is often already obsolete by the time It is introduced. The object-oriented concept provides a solution to this. Applications are modelled as software objects that describe both the properties and the behaviour of real world objects. Such objects are encapsulated and hide the inner complexity behind a public interface. This allows objects to be used in a wide range of program packages without the internal realization needing to be known. The connection of object-oriented modeled applications with a database places special demands on the DBMS and the development environment when you want to avoid the usual performance and semantics losses. This book provides description of the object model of the Cach post-relational database. In addition, the reader is guided step-by-step through the development of a first postrelational application. The accompanying CD-ROM contains the complete associated software.
