内容説明
By the end of the 19th century there was a considerable body of works on the algebra of logic, primary works by the likes of Boole, De Morgan and MacColl, plus numerous secondary textbooks and manuals as well as the writings of mathematicians such as Dedekind. The largest single contribution to the subject was by Peirce in his many papers. Schroder's great achievement was to assimilate and organize all these various authors' systems of notation, and with the aid of improved symbolism he was able to present a systematic treatment of the formal algebra of logic. It paved the way for the treatment of symbolic logic as an independent discipline and provided a transitional stage for the subject into the 20th century.
