Description and Table of Contents

Description

This book provides an overview of the conceptual issues relating to the measurement of transnationalization and discusses the advantages and drawbacks of different measures. Using a variety of measures, the study analyzes trends in transnationalization for a number of economies: Canada, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan province of China, The United Kingdom and the United States. This volume documents that, while the overall degree of transnationalization of the global economy is increasing, there are important differences in the process and phases of transnationalization among the various economies examined. The most notable difference is the decline in the contribution of developed countries to the transnationalization of the global economy, while the contribution of developing economies is increasing as measured by investment.
