Description
The Maintower in Frankfurt is one of the finest examples of contemporary architecture's holistic aspirations. A building that succeeds both practically and aesthetically, the Main Tower harmonizes brilliantly with its surroundings: the lower stories incorporate the sandstone facades of the buildings that had previously occupied the space; the facade of the square portion of the tower is clad in construction-grade bronze, which with time will acquire a pleasing patina. With its natural ventilation facilities, its individually adjustable room temperatures, its built-in cabling for electronic communications and its other advanced technological systems, this 660-foot-high energy-efficient building is a classic European skyscraper for the twenty-first century--a comfortable working environment for its occupants that relates visually and functionally to its surrounding environment. Maintower Frankfurt documents, in full color, this remarkable new edifice designed by the renowned office of Peter P. Schweger.
