Description
Through their work as consultants in the fields of strategic management and information technology, the authors have experienced how rarely managers apply modern planning and control methods or tools in their operations. "Strategic Budgeting" addresses this problem by transforming management models into useful and practical tools. The accompanying computer models, based on Microsoft Excel, calculate all the main financial indicators and present financial data graphically. Every attempt has been made to keep the models simple and accessible. All that is needed is to insert a few figures on operations and financial standing and the processing can be left to the models. This in turn leaves managers free to concentrate on analysis and interpretation of the data, whether they are drawing up business plans or reviewing performance figures. Although the book covers all the traditional analysis basedon profit as the key target, it is also based on the author's strong belief that to secure the long-range survival of the company, it is essential to plan and control the parallel development of profit and assets.
The book is intended as a practical guide for managers, but its careful step-by-step approach should also make it an useful introductory text for business school students.
