The work attempts to make sense of the eternal problem of violence which has afflicted humanity all along. Literature on violence covers a wide spectrum and broad range of issues related to it. The author splits the whole corpus of literature into five themes namely revolutionary violence, theorization of violence, religious theories of violence, in science and society . The work makes a significant contribution by compiling the works of philosophers and scholars who wrote or spoke about violence and its significance in the human society.
