Description
Manufacturers have an ongoing need to improve productivity in terms of improved performance and decreased costs. AT the same time, the demands of consumers are increasing both in terms of their performance expectations adn their desire to be able to obtain product customization. Powder metallurgy, like any other industry, is subject to these market forces and needs to respond to them if it is to realize its potential economic and ecological benefits. This text is concerned with computer-based method known as Knowledge-Based Systems (KBS), which the author believes has considerable potential for achieving the desired benefits. A KBS aims to solve real industrial problems by employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques.
