Sustainable tourism has become a very important concept as more and more countries develop tourist industries. This multi-author book examines the concept of sustainability and presents numerous case studies from both the developed and developing world in a variety of cultural, political and environmental contexts. The book documents the major challenges in implementing a sustainable tourism and recreation strategy and specifically considers the integration of cultural and environmental concerns in policy. Contributors include well known authorities from North America, Europe and Australia.
