Description and Table of Contents

Description

It is now possible to provide drivers and passengers of the future with a fantastic range of entertainment and information services on the move. This has been brought about by a convergence of consumer electronics, information appliances, and affordable broadband networking. Therefore, the car will become a convenient and productive place to spend time. As well as entertainment, new telematic services provide information helping to make journey times more predictable and reduce stress on the driver. "Multimedia Networks for Automotive Applications" introduces the technology which makes it possible for vehicle manufacturers to include advanced information and entertainment systems for driver and passengers. It presents the latest developments in technology and interesting new applications including: current and future network topologies; optical fibre in vehicles; multiplex gateways; integration of multiple networks; and bluetooth. "Multimedia Networks for Automotive Applications" should be useful reading for vehicle manufacturers, their suppliers, semiconductors manufacturers, and all those with an interest in this state-of-the-art technology.
