In impressive images and with great linguistic originality, Isaiah 63.7 - 64.11 asks Yahweh for his care and help for Zion / Jerusalem and his people. The study interprets this "prayer against the hiddenness of God" in the literary context of the book of Isaiah as a testimony to prophetic interpretation of the scriptures. It determines the location of the text in the history of the Old Testament and illuminates the conclusion of the editorial history of the Isaiah book.
