This book is the culmination of an advertising campaign by the exclusive design company Vitra, which had the idea of photographing famous personalities sitting on Vitra chairs. The resulting photographs are remarkable in their portrayal of world-famous personalities from the fine and performing arts, commenting on the link between style and status. Vitra hired the Swiss photographer Christian Coigny to shoot the campaign. What began as an attempt to amuse the public became a celebrated campaign that lasted for a decade.
