Description and Table of Contents
Description
"Local political leadership" examines the complexities of the concept of leadership, focusing on the intrinsic tension between leadership behaviour and leadership position. It also discusses the key leadership tasks, such as maintaining cohesiveness, developing strategic policy direction, and external relations and task accomplishment. The book also looks at leadership in practice, and explores the way in which the agenda of change set out in the 1998 White Paper has emerged, while developing an analysis of how leadership is likely to operate in the new system.
