Description and Table of Contents

Description

Contributed by researchers involved in multidisciplinary analysis of coupled fields, this book looks at problems in which heat transfer within a solid is coupled to fluid flow and heat transfer external to the solid are addressed together with other modes of heat transfer such as radiation. It also considers multidisciplinary analysis and optimization in the context of turbomachinery blade design, metal cutting and laser machining, as well as modelling of glass forms, and discusses dual reciprocity formulations for convective-diffusive solid-liquid phase change problems associated with metal foundry processes.

Table of Contents

  • Using BEM in glass modelling
  • interaction of radiation with other heat transfer modes
  • coupled FVM/BEM approach to conjugate heat transfer
  • boundary element method, sensitivity analysis and conjugate problems
  • aero-thermo-elastic concurrent design optimization of internally cooled turbine blades
  • dual boundary element formulations for steady state and transient thermoelastic fracture mechanics
  • poroelasticity using the BEM.
