内容説明

Although improvement in end-of-life care has become a demand of the public and a priority for health care practitioners, very little has been written about palliative medicine in the standard internal medicine books. "Handbook of Palliative Care in Cancer, Second Edition", fills this gap by discussing the many problems that afflict cancer patients. The book starts with the basics and clearly states how to assess patients' symptoms and what to do about them. It describes what can be expected and variations of care. Containing a large amount of lists, tables, charts, and illustrations, this book is extremely useful for any medical practitioner who works with cancer patients. The emphasis throughout the book is on providing practical help in controlling symptoms. Since effective delivery of palliative care requires a thorough knowledge of pharmacology, detailed profiles of sixty-one of the most common medications used in palliative care are provided in an appendix, along with an extensive table of generic and trade names of nearly all palliative care medications.
